Lil Miss Sunshine

People waiting to see Lily Allen slip up will have to wait a bit longer, as for her next move she’s covered a song that is impossible to fuck up. The Delgados had a good crack at it, but even their drunken plodding dirge could not dampen this track’s joie de vivre.

That’s right, Lily’s done a version of ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ by legendary proggers ELO (which, younger viewers might like to know, stands for Excruciatingly Long Orchestrations), purportedly for some French perfume advert or other.

Parts of the singing are a bit ‘wotcha me old china’, but as far as advert soundtracks go, this must surely be up there with the one about holidays done by those gospel singers on that fizzy drinks ad with all the trucks.

Lily Allen’s ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ is available from all good illegal sources soon.
