As you are no doubt aware, the new Hot Chip song, ‘Ready For The Floor’ (which they may or may not have ‘offered’ to Kylie Minogue depending on who you listen to), is very good indeed. Brilliantly-produced Robosoul from the genre that just keeps on giving.
Obviously, the most important thing for a band with such pop gold in their hands is to make a video that lives up to the colossal nature of their surefire hit. Something brave. Something good. Otherwise you end up with the ‘Song For Mutya’ video and no one wants that.
Luckily, Hot Chip have made a promo that matches the brilliance of ‘Ready For The Floor’. While it doesn’t quite evoke the ‘lovelorn androids shuffling into a euthanasia clinic’ and rampant disco melancholia of the chorus, it does feature Alexis dressed up a bit like The Joker. Albeit an Alexis from Hot Chip version of The Joker. Bless.
